 The 'young superstar' Silambarasan known for his rollicking love affairs in the past is all set to settle down with his lady love.

The hero who recently altered his Little Superstar title, seems to be making a conscious effort to change his image to that of a sophisticated, young gentleman from the previous image of a romeo.

Having proclaimed his affinity for Anushka, soon after her Arundhati success, the charmer has never hidden his feelings for her. However the marriage has come as a total shocker to the industry and friends.

Simbu has already indulged his ladylove in some expensive gifts, including a De Beers diamond necklace and a Mont Blanc pen, with which Anushka has even inked a few film contracts. The couple has also recently been house hunting in posh localities like Boat Club and Poes Garden.

Simbu who has been linked with some of his past heroines says, "Anushka is a total beauty. I admire her professionalism and the grace with which she handles her personal life. Truly, I am lucky to have her." The beauty is apparently visiting all the Chennai designers to plan her trousseau and her makeup artiste Nikki has already started exploring 'looks' for her big day.

Dressed in an elegant Manish Malhotra pink saree and glowing with shimmery cheek blush, the actress visited Simbu's parents and sought their blessings last week. After the wedding, which is going to be a "simple south Indian affair," Simbu shares, "I am planning to take her to Rome or Florence for the honeymoon. She deserves the best."

Anushka speaking to the paper also disclosed, "I love his X6 BMW. He took me on a long drive and that's when he proposed to me. I had to say yes, since he is such a well brought up person with nice values." Visiting temples might not be Simbu's favourite pastime, but he has apparently taken Anushka to an Amman temple in Kalakshetra colony in Besant Nagar to show his commitment towards marriage.

Although the couple believes in keeping it simple, the wedding is set to be a glitzy affair with some of the couple's closest star pals in attendance.

Simbu is planning to get his clothes done by Sidney Sladen, while Anushka is still on the lookout for a designer.

Simbu who proposed to Anushka during a long drive, presented her with a solitaire ring from Tiffany's.

Managing to surprise his close friends, Simbu told his dear ones about the marriage during a night out at a city bar . After marriage the couple plans to set up home in Chennai and plan to initiate their own production house.

I'm not a man: Nityananda

 I'm not a man, 'godman' Nityananda told CID sleuths

BANGALORE: “I’m not a man. There’s no way I could have indulged in sexual activities with women. Do a potency test on me”. That’s the sum and substance of Swami Nityananda’s startling statements to CID sleuths soon after he was brought to Bangalore after being arrested in Himachal Pradesh.

However, CID sleuths decided to ignore him, believing he was only trying to sidetrack the investigation. The swami’s passport clearly mentions his gender as male, not transgender. The CID plans to take a call on this after receiving the report of the Forensic Science Laboratory, Hyderabad, on a CD that has 36 video clips of Nityananda with at least five different women. The CID had sent the CD to Hyderabad for analysis and hopes to get the report on Friday, sources said.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) issued a circular to all airports to check items carried by the godman when he travelled in and out of India. According to information collected by DRI, Nityananda would carry gold-plated worship material like kamandalas and slippers to the US.

While returning, he would bring back 24-carat gold of the same size and weight. The look-out notice mentions his gender as male, sources said.

WHERE IS NITYA GOPIKA?

CID sleuths are also searching for Nityananda’s associate called Nitya Gopika, who hasn’t been seen after the salacious videos were aired by the media. Nitya Gopika was his close associate and always travelled with him to the US and handled his personal belongings.

Sleuths haven’t been able to establish her identity. They suspect she was one of the girls who signed Nityananda’s non-disclosure clause. Sleuths suspect Nitya Gopika initiated the video recording after she began to feel insecure when Tamil actress Ranjitha become rather close to the godman. She used his driver Kuruppan Lenin to expose Nityananda’s activities, the sources said.

The sources also suspect that Nitya Gopika is an NRI with a doctorate from the US. After coming to the ashram and signing the non-disclosure agreement, she divorced her husband.

Ajith fans warned

Ajith Fans Association manager Suresh Chandra has warned Ajith fans on the issue of celebrating the actor’s birthday. A news has said that some fans groups are apparently organising celebrations of Ajith's birthday on April 25 in association with some television channels where as Ajith’ birthday is on May 1.

In a statement release by Chandra he had said the association doesn’t approve these plans of Ajith fans to celebrate their idol’s birth day on April 25 much ahead of the real date which is May 1. He further warns the fans saying this kind of acts are against the interest of the association and its well being. He asked the fans to stop all the arrangements planned and wait for further official announcements after consulting with their Thala who is in Europe.

We had said earlier that Ajith would return to Chennai for his birthday and call for a conference to share his European experiences with his fans and media. But sources close to Ajith say that the response to his F2 racing is very encouraging and so that he may stay in Europe for some more time to consolidate.

Indian racer talks of his targets for Marrakech and his motivations for the season ahead


Following a solid opening weekend at Silverstone, South Indian film star Ajith Kumar took time out whilst on a short break in Chennai to reflect on his opening weekend, and to look ahead to the forthcoming round at Marrakech.

Kumar not only met his target of finishing both races and gaining valuable seat time in the two UK races, but significantly also improved between each session as he continues to acclimatise to the Williams JPH1B F2 car.

Ajith, who scored two podiums in his last full season of motorsport in the British F3 National Class, admitted he was looking to continue such improvements at the Marrakech City Circuit this weekend, and remained hopeful that his participation in F2 would only help boost the profile of motor racing in his home country.

What is your assessment of yourself and your performance after the first two races?

My main agenda for the race weekend at Silverstone was to finish both the races and gain as much track time as possible in the car. I was pleased with my performance in the second qualifying session, and race one also went very well. In race two my car had a problem with the turbo - around the 17th lap the engine lost revs completely. I had no other choice but to continue and finish the race, and in the process I finished 2 laps down.

What do you forecast at Morocco? What will be your strategy there?

Morocco as you know is a street circuit. I will have to study the circuit and understand from my race engineer what the best setup for the car should be. My strategy for Morocco will be to try and bridge the gap between the frontrunners and myself.

What is the kind of encouragement you receive from people like Jonathan Palmer and Piers Hunnisett?

Mr Jonathan Palmer has been very supportive. He is closely monitoring my progress, and can offer valuable tips and advise after sessions. Most importantly he understands my passion for the sport and how important it is to take this sport to the rural areas in developing countries like India.

Mr Piers Hunnisett, who is a successful race car driver himself, handles my racing programme and career. He takes care of logistics for - travel plans, accommodation, licensing, insurance coverage for both car and driver and PR in UK. He also provides driver coaching. Having Piers for help is a god send. I thank my friend Narain Karthikeyan for getting Piers on board.

Obviously your enthusiasm for racing has increased for you to get back to active racing. What is your main motivating factor?

Motorsports in India has definitely come a very long way, with two drivers from India making it to F1 (Narain Karthikeyan and Karun Chandhok), and Mr Vijay Mallya owning India's first Formula One (Force India). Hopefully India will also host an F1 event in 2011! It's time the sport reached the masses and the rural areas, and I hope that my mere participation helps that happen.

What is the kind of support you have been getting from your family?

My family understands how much I love this sport. The very fact that they have accepted my decision to participate in a very fiercely competitive championship like Formula Two speaks volumes for their support. My family and I strongly believe that life is not about winning or losing. It's about following our hearts and living our dreams!

What is your target as you progress through the various rounds?

My target is to do the best I can in terms of my own abilities!

Mumbai: Chirayu Amin, businessman and low-profile cricket administrator, was made interim chief of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday. His task--and the BCCI's too--would to get the league out the taint of scandal.

Amin is a BCCI Vice-President and president of the Baroda Cricket Association. He is also the CMD of Alembic Pharmaceutical, one of the leading drugs companies of the country. "The immediate task is to clean up the IPL. The game has just been concluded and so we will start planning for the next year. That is the priority right now," Amin said after his appointment.

The BCCI’s (Board of Control for Cricket in India) priority too is the IPL, but it is yet to settle the manner with suspended IPL commissioner and chairman Lalit Modi.

The board accused Modi of keeping the IPL Governing Council in the dark and taking decisions without consent of others, but promised him a fair investigation.

"In the last 15 days, there were lots of allegations and counter-allegations made through media as a result of which the board looked into the allegations levelled and took a decision to issue a show cause notice to Lalit Modi and, pending inquiry, decided to suspend him. The board will hold, after receiving a reply from Mr. Modi, an inquiry if necessary. If the reply or Mr Modi convinces the members, the proceedings will be dropped," said BCCI president Shashank Manohar.

Manohar said that it was important to suspend Modi so that a free and fair investigation could be conducted. "For free and fair enquiry it was necessary to suspend Modi so that he cannot interfere with the enquiry process," he said.

Manohar also said that BCCI Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty will look into the documents which are reportedly missing. "We have also asked Professor Shetty to look into the documents as many documents are missing. Every day Income Tax department is asking for documents and we don't have them. So professor Shetty will look into the missing documents and will collect the documents.".

Manohar absolved Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, saying neither the senior politician nor his relatives were involved in bidding for IPL teams.

He ruled out any political interference in the functioning of the BCCI saying as far he was concerned nobody can change his decisions.

US Air Force launches 'space plane'

Washington: The US Air Force on Thursday launched its so-called 'space plane', an unmanned craft designed to fly for months in space.

A rocket carrying the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle took off at shortly before 8 pm (2400 GMT) from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on a mission that the Air Force hopes will prove the viability of reusable drone access to space.


The mission is to test the guidance and other systems of the X-37B during the flight. Air Force officials say no decision has been made on when it will return to Earth. The planned landing venue is Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

The Air Force has not disclosed any payloads that the vehicle is carrying or what type of experiments it will conduct. It has a wingspan of 4.5 metres, is 8.9 metres long and weighs 4,990 kg.

Sex Swami Nithyananda arrested in Himachal

Solan/Bangalore: Controversial self-styled godman Nithyananda Swami, who was absconding for over a month in the wake of an alleged sex scandal, was on Wednesday arrested in Solan in Himachal Pradesh.
Nithyananda and four of his associates were arrested from a house in Mamlig village under Akri police station area in Solan District in a joint operation by policemen from Bangalore and Himachal Pradesh, Deputy Commissioner, Solan, Amar Singh Rathore said.
He said Nithyananda, who is believed to have been living in the Solan village for the last one month, and his associates have been taken to Arki police station.
Bangalore Criminal Investigation Department, investigating cases filed against Nithyananda, said it had recently seized some documents and articles during a raid on his ashram at Bidadi, about 35 km from Solan.
During the raid by a 15-member CID team, some documents pertaining to the ashram, computers and its hardware had been taken away by police, which had also questioned several ashramites, including Nithyananda's brother Nityeshwara.
Police were on the look out for Nithyananda who had allegedly indulged in sleazy activities and a purported video footage, aired by regional TV channels, had showed him in a compromising position with a Tamil actress.
Tamil Nadu police had registered cases against Nithyananda for various offences under IPC including rape. The cases are under investigation by Karnataka police, to whom they were transferred to.
Nithyananda had announced that he had quit as the head of his ashram in Karnataka and associated trusts to lead a life of 'spiritual seclusion'.

Swami Nithyananda arrested in Himachal Pradesh

Mandi: Breaking News! Controversial godman Swami Nithyananda, was arrested at Solan in Himachala Pradesh today. A local court in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu had earlier issued a non-bailable arrest warrant (NBW) against him on April 19.
Swami Nithyananda figured in a sleaze tape, involving Tamil actress Ranjitha. The video was telecasted by SUN News and then other TV channels. While Ranjitha admitted giving massage to Swami Nithyananda, she rejected allegations of sex with him.
Swami Nithyananda had resigned from key posts of his Bidadi Ashram in Karnataka following the controversy. Cases were registered against him in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

The non-bailable warrant was issued against him on the complaint of advocate and former RSS activist K Selvamani, who accused Nithyananda of hurting the religious sentiments of people and doing a malicious act by indulging in sex while donning the saffron attire and rudraksham.

Sriperumbudur District Munsif-cum-Judicial Magistrate S Gunasekhar had asked the Rama Nagar (Karnataka) SP to execute the NBW and form a special team to arrest him. Swami Nithyanada will now be taken to court in Solan or Simla for transit remand. Later, he will be brought to Karnataka or Tamil Nadu

Tight security for India IPL match in Mumbai

Security is tight at the Mumbai (Bombay) stadium where the semi-finals of the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament are to be held.

The match was shifted to Mumbai after two small bombs at the weekend outside the original venue in Bangalore.
Police say at least 3,000 security personnel will ring the Mumbai stadium and every spectator will be checked.
The IPL has been hit by controversy in recent days with allegations of corruption and financial bungling.
On Sunday, Shashi Tharoor resigned as junior foreign minister following his public spat with Lalit Modi, the head of the IPL, over ownership of the Kochi team.
It was alleged that a woman friend of Mr Tharoor's had received a free stake in the team. Mr Tharoor denies any wrongdoing.
Indian authorities are investigating the financing of the tournament and media reports suggest there are plans to force Lalit Modi from office.
'All precautions'
Special security arrangements have been put in place for the first of the semi-finals on Wednesday, Mumbai police chief AN Roy told the BBC.
"We have taken all precautions and every single spectator will be frisked before entering the stadium."
More than 2,000 policemen and armed commandos and 1,000 private security guards have been deployed to secure the ground.
At least 60 metal detectors have been installed and closed-circuit cameras will keep an eye on every corner of the stadium, police say.
DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai is one of the finest in the country, with a seating capacity of 55,000.
The stadium, inaugurated in 2008, hosted the IPL final that year.
The stadium will host semi-final matches on Wednesday and Thursday, before the third place play-off on Saturday and the final on Sunday.
The venue was switched after two small bombs went off outside Bangalore's Chinnaswamy Stadium before last Saturday's IPL game between Bangalore Royal Challengers and Mumbai Indians.
A third device was defused on Sunday.
All three devices were hidden in the stadium's perimeter wall and the two explosions injured 15 people.
The IPL has become a multi-billion dollar industry, which attracts some of India's wealthiest businessmen and women.
On Tuesday, Mr Tharoor told India's parliament that he had done nothing "improper or unethical" and that he resigned because he did not want to be "an embarrassment" to the government.
Opposition lawmakers in parliament alleged that the multi-billion dollar cricket league was used for money laundering and illegal betting.
IPL chief Lalit Modi denies any allegations of funding irregularities. He has described the claims as "absolutely baseless"

NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will take a final decision on Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi's association with the tournament only on April 26.
The third edition of the IPL concludes in Mumbai on April 25 and the BCCI has called a meeting of the IPL general council to decide on Mr. Modi's fate.
“No decision has been taken on Lalit Modi. It is only speculation. We can only come to a decision after the governing council of the IPL meets on April 26,” said Union Minister Sharad Pawar after a meeting with BCCI president Shashank Manohar at his residence here on Tuesday.
Mr. Pawar, a former BCCI president and the next president of the International Cricket Council, said: “We are not vested with the authority to take a decision on our own. The governing council will not interfere with the basic rights of all members.”
The meeting was prompted by reports that the BCCI was under pressure to take notice of the allegations made against Mr. Modi in his role as IPL commissioner. As a senior BCCI member, Mr. Pawar is expected to play the leading role in tackling the issue. “Don't forget that Modi is a vice-president of the BCCI. We have to put together our experience before we come to a decision. We have always taken collective and unanimous decisions and that is what will happen in this case too,” Mr. Pawar said.
According to sources, the BCCI wants to give Mr. Modi the time and the platform to clarify his position. “We know allegations have been made [against Mr. Modi and IPL] but then we can't just go by what people have been saying. We would be the first to take action against anyone found guilty of any illegal activity. But the BCCI feels it would be fair to give Modi a chance to defend himself. If the charges against him are proved, the BCCI would not waste time in taking action against him,” said a senior BCCI member.

On his part, Mr. Modi, back from Dubai after attending a meeting of the ICC, parried questions about his resignation, saying the matter would be discussed and a unanimous decision taken at the governing council meeting on April 26.
“I think all of you have the same question. On April 26, we have the governing council. We will meet there and discuss all these allegations that are coming out,” Mr. Modi said.
“There is no point discussing it [his resignation]. Shashank Manohar and Sharad Pawar already met this [on Tuesday] morning. They are all united in the same area. Decision will be taken unanimously by the governing council,” he said. “I will present all the facts against all the allegations. There is nothing to worry about and we will carry on,” he added.

White-Hot Show at Iceland Volcano

A blast of white-hot lightning crackles over Iceland's Eyjafjallajökull volcano on Sunday. Clouds of volcanic ash from Eyjafjallajokull have snarled European air traffic for nearly a week.

National Geographic Your Shot submitter Peter Vancoillie took the photograph from about 18 miles (30 kilometers) away from the volcanic lightning storm, which not "unlike a regular old thunderstorm," said Martin Uman, a lightning expert at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

The same ingredients are present: water droplets, ice, and possibly hail—all interacting with each other and with particles, in this case ash from the eruptions, to cause electrical charging, Uman said.

The volcanic-lightning pictures are 'really very sensational,' Uman said. 'Somebody ought to be up there with an HD movie camera—it's ready for the IMAX theater.'

Inhaling the tiny pieces of glassy sand and dust in the cloud can cause irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat, say experts who advise Europeans to stay indoors when the ash begins to fall. Finer particles can also penetrate deep into the lungs and cause breathing problems, particularly among those with respiratory issues like asthma or emphysema.

But if people could witness the volcanic lightning safely, it would be an incredible experience, Uman said.
'Everyone would want to see that,' Uman said. 'It's like going to see aurora borealis near the North Pole-it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience.'

Post ‘Welcome’ Deepa Sahi signed Nana Patekar and Hema Malini for the film 'Na Na Karte Pyaar', Nana demanded 5 crores and Deepa agreed, a signing amount of 1 Cr was also given. Due to some reasons or the other nothing much happened and Nana’s post ‘Welcome’ releases bombed at the B.O. In fact his ‘Horn Ok Please’ is awaiting a distributor for the past 2 years. ‘Rajneeti’ took off and Nana got busy with the shooting. Deepa felt 5 crores is not worth and asked Nana to consider on price as his market was giving favorable returns but Nana was adamant in reducing his price.
Insiders say that Nana was not very convinced with the concept. Prakash Jha came to know about this and he convinced Nana to return back the money if he is not very much convinced with Deepa’s project.
Nana later after some persuasion from Prakash Jha returned the money to Deepa.
We don't know whether Deepa will  look for some other choice or shelf the film but one thing we're sure Nana is open to advices and he truly follows the funda of ‘learn to listen and listen to learn’.

Sehwag out of World Twenty20

India opener Virender Sehwag has suffered a shoulder injury, which has ruled him out of the ICC World Twenty20 beginning in the West Indies on April 30. Sehwag has been advised rest for three to four weeks, and has been replaced by Tamil Nadu batsman M Vijay in the 15-man squad, the BCCI said in a statement. Gautam Gambhir will be the vice-captain.

The BCCI statement, however, did not mention how or when Sehwag sustained the injury. Sehwag played all 14 IPL league matches for Delhi Daredevils, scoring 356 runs at an average of 25, his last appearance being on April 18. He was deemed fit when included in the World Twenty20 squad so it's likely the injury occurred during Delhi's IPL campaign.

The blow is similar to the one India suffered before the 2009 ICC World Twenty20. Sehwag had sustained a shoulder injury during the 2009 IPL in South Africa, shortly before the World Twenty20 was due to begin. He travelled with the squad to England, but was not able to play a game. India were eliminated without winning a game in the second round.

His replacement, Vijay, has been in aggressive form for Chennai Super Kings, scoring 417 runs, including a century, at an average of 38. He has been India's back-up opener for Tests and ODIs as well.

Not decided about Kochi IPL-Vidya Balan

Bollywood star Vidya Balan has made it clear that she has not yet decided whether to become the brand ambassador of newly formed Kochi IPL team. “As no one has approached me about that, I have no clue about it” says Vidya .The actress who is a Malayalee by birth belonging to a Palakkad Brahmin family, is the most expected celebrity to endorse the team, as it is supposed to be from Kerala though with non Malayalee owners

'Toyota expected to pay $16.4 mn US fine'

The Obama administration expected Toyota Motor Corp on Monday to agree to pay a record $16.4 million fine over US government allegations the company knowingly delayed a massive accelerator pedal recall in January, a source familiar with the matter said on Sunday.

Toyota is "accepting responsibility for hiding this safety defect" from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration "in violation of the law," a senior Transportation Department official said.
The decision to pay the fine does not release Toyota from potential liability in legal cases related to recalls in 2009 and this year over unintended acceleration in Toyota and Lexus vehicles, the source said.

Goldman Sachs faces questions in Europe

LONDON: Goldman Sachs is facing a potential backlash in Europe over the fraud case brought against it in the United States, with Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown calling for authorities there to investigate and accusing the investment bank of ``moral bankruptcy.''

Germany also said it would ask for detailed information about the case.

Both governments had to bail out banks that lost hundreds of millions of dollars on investments marketed by Goldman, according to the fraud suit brought by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, in Britain's case Royal Bank of Scotland through its acquisition of parts of ABN Amro.

The SEC said the Royal Bank of Scotland paid Goldman $841 million to unwind ABN Amro transactions. Royal Bank of Scotland is now 84 percent owned by British taxpayers after being partly nationalized by the government.

Germany's IKB Deutsche Industriebank AG, an early victim of the credit crunch, lost nearly all its $150 million investment, the SEC said.

Brown on Sunday called for a full inquiry by Britain's Financial Services Authority in conjunction with the SEC. Britain would join Germany, where government officials said they would seek information about the bank's activities.

Brown, currently facing a tough re-election battle, seemed additionally angry at Goldman Sachs' plan to pay 3.5 billion pounds ($5.4 billion) in bonuses as reported in British newspapers.

``I am shocked at this moral bankruptcy,'' he said. ``This is probably one of the worst cases that we have seen.''

Brown called for a ``new global constitution for the banking system'' that would, among other things, ban bonus packages like the ones planned by Goldman Sachs.

The U.S. charges against Goldman Sachs relate to a complex investment tied to the performance of pools of risky mortgages. In a complaint filed Friday, the Securities and Exchange Commission alleged that Goldman marketed the package to investors without disclosing that the pools were picked by another client, a prominent hedge fund that wanted to bet the U.S. housing bubble would burst. Within months, most of the mortgages had been downgraded as the U.S. housing boom went into reverse and the securities fell sharply in value.

The company denies it did anything wrong, saying investor losses came from the deterioration of the whole sector, not regarding which securities were in the pool.

Goldman Sachs already is facing an EU investigation into a 2002 swap deal it carried out with Greece that may have helped hide the extent of the country's financial troubles.

Brown said strict reform of the banking sector is needed. He was responding to British Sunday press reports about the billions in bonus payments planned for Goldman employees worldwide.

``Everything I find out convinces me that we have got to go in deeper, and I believe that I am the man to deal with these problems of the banks and to challenge them about the way they behave in the future,'' said Brown, who faces a difficult challenge from both the Conservative Party and the Liberal Democrats in the May 6 election.

Asin faints

Asin fainted due to a gas leak in the caravan allotted to her during the shooting of Kaavalkaran. The actress was not alone when the mishap took place as her father, and makeup assistants were also along with her. All of them inside the caravan fainted, sources report, and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, after the initial treatment, they returned back to their hotels for rest.

The actress is camping in Karaikudi area along with the film crew of Kaavalkaran to complete the first schedule of the film.

Salman beats SRK on Twitter

This is one battle Salman Khan seems to have taken an edge on rival, SRK. Salman joined Twitter with his account, BeingSalmanKhan, on Tuesday, the same day that Shah Rukh completed 100 days on the microblogging site.And within six hours, accumulated as many followers as Shah Rukh did in the first day. 24-hours after his first post, Salman had 18,833 followers, compared to SRK's nearly 10,000, in the same time.
In his first tweet, Salman posted, "Arbaaz ne kaha ke tweet kar, toh banta hai boss." His next came an hour later, "Challo nw , whoever was being me, party over, baju hattoplz." Late on Tuesday night, the actor tweeted, "Thanx guys! Feels good. Promise to tweet, ek baar jo maine commitment kar di."

Talking about the movie, the makers of the movie say that it is a family entertainer with a political backdrop. Producer Ravi Valappaneni is highly confident about the movie’s release.

Vijay intro KAAVALKARAN Song

Opening songs in Vijay’s films always come with a charm. Proving this once again is a number from his 51st film ‘Kaavalkaran’, a remake of Malayalam super hit ‘Bodyguard’, both directed by ace Molly-wood filmmaker Sidonnie.


‘Mannai kaappaan oruvan, Vinnai kaappaan oruvan… Ennai unnai kaakkum avaney avaney Iraivan….’ These are the starting lines of the mass-intro song of the ‘Ilaya Thalapathi’ in the film, if sources are to be believed.

The song was recently shot on the actor and a large number of junior artistes near the famous Sri Mahalingaswamy shrine in Thiruvidaimarudur, a temple town near Kumbakonam. Also present in the shoot was Asin, the heroine of the movie.

While Vijay was spotted in a violet t-shirt and blue jean, Asin was seen wearing a brown sari. Earlier, poojas were performed at the shrine for the success of the film, we learn. A large number of students and public thronged the place after news spread that Vijay was in their place.

Captain Vijayakanth to take a break from shoot

Actor and DMDK president Vijayakanth, who is busy with his directorial debut ’Virudhagiri’, will take time off from the shooting schedule and campaign for his party candidate in the Pennagaram by-election scheduled for March 27.

According to sources, the actor-politician will hit the campaign trail for five days from March 21. “He will tour the constituency and address a host of public meetings seeking votes to DMDK candidate K G Kaveri Varman,” they said.

“However, this would not stop the movie from shaping up as Vijayakanth has assigned some important works to his associates to complete during the five-day break. An action entertainer, ‘Virudhagiri’ is about a police officer who is brainy and brawny,” sources added.

The title ‘Virudhagiri’ was inspired by the famous Viruthagireeswarar temple in Virudhachalam constituency, for which Vijayakanth is the legislator. The film is produced by his own production company and a major part of the shoot is over, we learn.

Nokia Corp. has launched three less-expensive smart phones, including its first model expected to sell for less than euro100 ($135).

The world's largest mobile phone maker says it wants "to put better messaging and social networking tools in the hands of more people around the world at affordable prices."
The new Nokia C3, Nokia E5 and Nokia C6 handsets have full QWERTY keyboards, enable instant messaging and give access to e-mails.
Their expected selling prices are euro90, euro180 and euro220 before taxes and subsidies.
The new phones will be available during the second and third quarters of this year.
